Drone spreading operators

Spreading drones carry granular fertiliser, seed, bait or lime and spread it from the air. They’re used for oversowing hill country, topdressing small or steep blocks, and treating areas that are hard to reach by ground spreader or fixed-wing aircraft.

Before you book: what to ask and have ready

Before you book: ask what payload and spread width the operator’s drone handles, what it costs per hectare or per tonne, and what CAA certification applies to the job. For larger areas, compare with a conventional topdressing quote.

Useful to have ready: the area in hectares, the product and application rate, and a farm map.
